NY Knicks: Reacting to 3 awful trade ideas that send John Wall to NY

Back in June, an article was written showing three potential trades to send Houston Rockets to point guard John Wall to the NY Knicks, and they were abysmal trades all around for New York.

All three of these trades were heavily lopsided, and if any of them were made, it would be clear that Rockets owner Tillman Fertitta holds some sort of power over James Dolan and Leon Rose, and this is how they pay off their debt to him.

I recently wrote an article on reacting to an atrocious trade offer for Collin Sexton to the Knicks.

Knicks fans seemed to enjoy it, while the Cleveland Cavaliers Reddit page had some colorful words to say to me.

I felt like enough time has passed that now I can have a new fan base that dislikes me, or maybe they will think logically and know that if you can make a trade in NBA 2K21, it does not mean you can make it in real life.

All of these trades disregard the enormous amount of money that John Wall is owed this season. Wall is in the final year of a max contract and is seeing him get $92 million dollars by the Rockets over the next two seasons.

I say “by the Rockets”, because only NBA casuals would think this is some fair trade as they see a name they recognize, meaning he must be good, right?

Wrong.

No executive in their right mind would trade for a player who ruptured his Achilles two years ago and followed that up with his least efficient season and worst PER in his career at 15.4.

Wall only played 40 games last season and did not look fully engaged at all playing on the abysmal Houston Rockets.

All three of these trades say the same thing that the Knicks should give low-level assets as they take on one of the NBA’s worst contracts.

Yes, the Knicks need a point guard, but John Wall will hardly play and wants to be on a team with a chance to win the NBA Finals, not a mid-level playoff team.

Speaking of Mid-Level, a mid-level exception is all I would pay for John Wall, to begin with, not an MLE multiplied by 5.
