Should the NY Knicks consider signing Nemanja Bjelica this summer?

Nemanja Bjelica is a name that some casual NBA fans may have never heard of, but the guy is a baller.

He came into the league back in 2015 which was just about the time when someone with his skill sets would thrive.

As the game has gotten further and further away from being a center-dominant league and has turned into one that prioritizes spacing and shooters, Bjelica being a stretch big man can be a useful weapon for the Knicks.

He’s more of a power forward, so acquiring him would lean heavily on whether or not Obi Toppin is traded during this offseason.

If Toppin sticks around for next year, this idea is dead in the water.

But if Leon Rose wanted to replace Toppin with a nice stretch big, Bjelica is a name he should be calling.

He stands at 6’10 so I do like the idea of him coming in and playing a little bit of small-ball 5 in small doses.

But primarily, he’d be a sharpshooter on the outside who’s shot 39% from deep on his career.

Bjelica is a decent rebounder and also has a little bit of playmaking ability, as most Euro bigs do.

If the Knicks could get him to come on for around the veteran’s minimum of about $5 million per year, the investment would pay dividends.

I’m just excited to see how Clyde would butcher this guy’s name on a nightly basis.
