Should the NY Knicks sign Dwight Howard this offseason?

To say Dwight Howard is a shell of his former self would be a massive understatement, but that just goes to show how incredible he once was as he’s still a very serviceable backup center with the ability to spot-start in a pinch.

Howard is an 8-time All-Star who lead the league in rebounding 5 times and blocks per game twice.

He’s also made 5 All-Defensive teams and won Defensive Player of the Year 3 times.

He’s got a Hall of Fame resume, to say the least.

Howard is just shy of 36 years of age and is done getting big-time contracts, especially being of a dying breed of big men that play the way he does.

Now, he’s ring chasing and while the Knicks don’t necessarily offer him that upside right now, they can offer him a ton of money to make up for it.

Howard played for just about $2.5 million last season. The Knicks could perhaps triple that figure and have him come aboard New York’s rocket ship.

Coach Thibodeau would have an absolute field day with Dwight and Mitchell Robinson could benefit greatly from a relationship with him as well.

Mitch is just a new-age version of what Dwight once was — a bouncy, super athletic rim-runner that loves to block as many shots as he can.
