Would you want the NY Knicks to give Victor Oladipo a look in free agency?

Just hear me out before you freak out, ok?

I was once a massive proponent of the Knicks trading for Vic…until I wasn’t.

Now that he’s a free agent, no assets would have to be given up to acquire him, so the Knicks have all the leverage.

Miami gave up close to nothing for Oladipo at the trade deadline, so if someone were to come in and outbid them for his services, they’d easily let him go without getting into a bidding war.

The fact is, Vic’s value is at an all-time low.

He was looking for a massive payday earlier this year, and almost got one from the Rockets but turned down a 2-year, $45 million extension.

He was ultimately traded to Miami where he played in all of 4 games for them and even in the games he did play in, they weren’t very good.

His numbers on the Heat across the board were abysmal…12 points, 67% from the charity stripe, and 23% from 3-point range.

His numbers with Houston and the Pacers weren’t substantially better either.

I think someone with a lot of cap space, like the Knicks, can come in and give him a one-year, prove-it type of deal where it’s a decent chunk of change for the one season for him to improve his stock.

I think somewhere in the realm of $16-18 million for the one season as a stop-gap for 2022 when the free agency class is much much better than this year’s class.

A healthy, at 100% Victor Oladipo is everything Coach Thibodeau would want in his starting shooting guard.
