NY Knicks: The 76ers could see Fournier as “Missing Piece”

The Sixers have a legitimate shot at winning the championship this season. They are a great defensive team led by two star players. Their issue is offense, they run it through Joel Embiid, but after him, there isn’t another player that can create it on his own. Ben Simmons is great, but he is more of a facilitator than a scorer. Simmons can’t and won’t shoot from the outside and is not reliable from the free throw line. Tobias Harris is a very nice player, but he can’t break down defense to get his own shot.

Adding Fournier to the Sixers unlocks their offense. His ability to create off the dribble and shoot from the outside would make the Philly offense potent. He can be the closer the Sixers have been missing since Jimmy Butler left to join the Miami Heat. The Sixers would now have 3 players who could score 20 points a night paired with Simmons playmaking and Curry’s shooting.  Philly would be able to match Milwaukee and Brooklyn in terms of talent.

Since Fournier is on an expiring contract the Sixers wouldn’t have to offer as much as they normally would have to for a player of his caliber. Philly would provide them a nice young player in Furkan Korkmaz, rookie guard Isaiah Joe, a 1st round pick, and veteran swingman Danny Green,  who is on an expiring contract for salary matching purposes. The Magic could also possibly flip Green for additional assets before the deadline.

Korkmaz is a 6’7” wing that is only 23 years old. He is on an expiring contract so The Magic can take a look at him to see if he fits their plans. Isaiah Joe is a rookie that has shown flashes but is buried on the depth chart. The Sixers have enough young players on the roster, so they can afford to part with prospects and draft picks. The key to the deal is whether Fournier would be willing to resign with them.
