Rumor: Bucks Eyeing Kyle O’Quinn

If Willy Hernangomez is the top target, then Kyle O’Quinn is the second-most coveted player on the New York Knicks—amongst those who could be realistically traded, of course. He’s a shot-blocking big who rebounds at an elite level and has an above-average offensive skill: Passing.

Thus, it should come as no surprise that a team in the midst of a push for improved postseason seeding is interested in acquiring his services.

O’Quinn is currently averaging 6.6 points, 5.7 rebounds, 1.9 assists, and 1.0 block in just 16.7 minutes per game. He’s doing so on 58.9 percent shooting from the field, and ranks No. 9 amongst all centers in Real Plus-Minus.

According to Michael Scotto of The Athletica potential suitor has emerged for O’Quinn in the 28-23 Milwaukee Bucks.

"Milwaukee also expressed interest in trading for Knicks center Kyle O’Quinn, league sources told The Athletic."

The Bucks have made it no secret that they’re in the market for an upgrade at center, and O’Quinn could be the powerhouse they need.

It’s unclear what Milwaukee could entice New York with as far as a potential trade is concerned. It may be unwilling to part with its 2018 first-round draft pick, and has limited assets on the roster that would be of immediate appeal to the Knicks.

If the Bucks aren’t willing to give up their first-round draft pick, then the framework of a deal would likely center around sharpshooter Sterling Brown and a future first or the 2018 second.
