Rumor: Warriors Want Kyle O’Quinn

The Golden State Warriors are the closest thing we may ever see to non-Olympic basketball perfection. In terms of meeting the demands of the era they play in, there isn’t a phase of the game in which the Warriors are less than average—or so it seems.

As Golden State prepares to make its push for a third championship in four years, it’s looking for ways to address its void down low.

The Warriors have four All-NBA players in the prime of their careers and a Finals MVP who was an All-Star himself. Yet, with the trade deadline nearing, the defending champions rank No. 25 in points allowed in the paint per game and No. 26 in opponent second chance points.

According to Michael Scotto of The Athleticthe Warriors join the Milwaukee Bucks as teams that have expressed interest in acquiring Kyle O’Quinn from the New York Knicks.

"The Warriors and Bucks are among the teams that have expressed interest in O’Quinn."

That’s consistent with a recent report from Ian Begley of ESPN New York, which provided the same information.

The reason for interest is clear, but the hurdle appears to be finding a trade that works for both teams. New York would likely ask for the Warriors’ first-round draft pick, but if Bob Myers declines the offer, negotiations could stall.

Nick Young would likely need to be required to make the salaries line up, but the Knicks will be stressing future assets in any trade discussions.
