Knicks News: Kristaps Porzingis Talks About Knicks and Basketball on Twitter Q & A
By William Lee
On October 24, 2015 New York Knicks‘ rookie Kristaps Porzingis held a Q&A for one hour, opening up on all subject matters.
Below are some of the basketball related questions. A lot of his answers reaffirmed his love and adulation for New York City and the Knicks’ organization, as well as reaffirming his great attitude and mindset. And some revealed his admiration and idealization of NBA legends.
Porzingis said he choose to wear the number six because it was his brother’s number and that he idolized him growing up.
When asked how early does he arrive for games, Porzingis responded

When asked what was his favorite spot to take a three-pointer, Porzingis responded with top of the key. I would love to see Porzingis take some three-pointers straight on as the trailer on the fastbreak this upcoming season, given head coach Derek Fisher allows Porzingis to do so in the offense. We see Dirk Nowitzki do this all the time and Porzingis was compared to him.
Speaking of Nowitzki, it is probably humbling for Porzingis to be compared to him because he mentioned Dirk when asked, who were his favorite players growing up. Another of his idols growing up, current teammate and mentor, Carmelo Anthony.
Porzingis’ favorite sneaker to wear are the Kobe X sneakers. Shouldn’t be surprising considering Porzingis’ Twitter background is a picture of Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant together, all suited up.
Although even with the aforementioned Twitter background, when asked which three NBA legends he would want to have dinner with, Porzingis surprisingly left off Kobe.
Although Porzingis may want to have dinner with Shaquille O’Neal, he does not want to be on Shaqtin’ A Fool.
"i hope not"
I know the New York media is falling all over themselves for Porzingis’ work ethic and attitude but the following response reaffirms feelings. When asked who does he want to dunk on or block the most in the league, Porzingis responded, anyone that talks trash to him. Guess we will be seeing Porzingis attempt to dunk and block on a lot of people this year. YAY!
More on Porzingis’ great attitude, when asked would he rather make the Playoffs or be an All-Star in his rookie year, Porzingis responded with Playoffs, showing that he rather have team success over individual success. Although if Porzingis was named an All-Star, you would think the Knicks would be doing pretty good, right?
Lastly a few items on the Knicks, Porzingis said that it was a dream come true for him that he is a Knick and that is feels blessed that New York gave him the opportunity. Porzingis also responding with a resounding YES! that he wants to be a Knick for life, and that he loves living in New York. Nothing new here that we did not hear before but also…what else is he suppose to say…of course he has to say all this, it would be bad PR otherwise…

This was great for his PR, it really helps fans get to know the relatively unknown 20-year-old Latvian rookie. Great to let fans get to know him a little bit better just before the regular season begins.
Awesome work Porzingis, keep it up on and off the court!
