Knicks: Langston Galloway Not Satisfied, Getting Better

Langston Galloway was one of few bright spots to a 17-65, franchise worst season.

After going undrafted in the 2014 NBA Draft, Galloway was signed by the New York Knicks‘ D-League affiliate team. Galloway got the call up to the main roster in early January when the season was already completely lost, and the Knicks had nothing to lose but to see what they had in their young talent.

Galloway took this opportunity and ran with it, averaging 11.8 points, 4.2 rebounds, 3.3 assists, and 1.2 steals en route to being named onto the All-Rookie Second Team. Although Galloway is not “satisfied” though according to , who transcribed a Galloway SiriusXM NBA Radio interview.

"“I’m not satisfied at all.I’m just trying to make my mark each game that goes by and I’m definitely still trying to prove myself to the world that ‘hey, I can continue to belong in this league and continue to do the same thing I did last year,‘”"

This summer Galloway is continuing to work hard on his game and conditioning. Recently Galloway retweeted a video on his personal Twitter account of himself working out in Traction Sports‘ facility.

During the SiriusXM NBA Radio interview, Galloway spoke of working on his inside game this summer.

"“Doing a lot of floaters, finishing at the basket,”"

It is good to hear Galloway working hard on his floater, all the top point guards in the league uses the floater in their arsenal of moves. Tony Parker, Derrick Rose, Rajon Rondo, Chris Paul, all uses floaters in their game. Last season Galloway used the floater only 19 times, making up only 3.72% of his shot selection, as per NBA Savant. Galloway only converted on 36.8% of his floater attempts last season, as per NBA.com.

It is also good to hear that Galloway is working on finishing at the basket, last season Galloway converted 47.6% of his attempts in the restricted area, as per NBA.com.

Galloway spoke about working hard on all the other areas of his game as well.

"“And another thing, just being more consistent. I’ve been working on my point guard skills as well because that’s a big key in being in the triangle with the Knicks. And also, just working on my speed. A lot of point guards in the NBA have a lot of quickness. So I’m just going to continue to work on that and get better when I’m guarding the different types of guys.”"

Improving quickness is a must for Galloway. The NBA tracks the average speed in miles per hour of all movements by a player while on the court and Galloway lags quite behind in this category. Galloway average speed is 4.3 mph, which ranks in the 150+ range, as per NBA.com. Surprisingly Patty Mills tops the category at 4.8 mph, with his teammate Tony Parker (not so surprising) not far behind at 4.6 mph.

Galloway also ranks quite far back in the distance in miles that a player covered while on the court per 48 minutes played. Galloway traveled 3.5 miles per 48 minutes, as per NBA.com. Mills again tops the category at 3.8 miles per 48 minutes.

Galloway not being satisfied and working hard on all aspects of his game is music to all Knick fans’ ear, and I am looking forward to seeing the improvement in Galloway’s game this upcoming season.

During the SiriusXM NBA Radio interview, Galloway also spoke about working out with Kristaps Porzingis and gave a strong endorsement for the Latvian rookie. Below is a snippet of the SiriusXM NBA Radio interview regarding Porzingis.
