3 Role players the Knicks should target in free agency
1. PF Georges Niang
One of the biggest weaknesses the Knicks had this past season was their three-point shooting. Not only did the team rank 19th in the regular season in three-point percentage, but New York’s shooting as a whole collapsed come playoff time.
Adding a player like Georges Niang wouldn’t make this problem magically disappear, but it would certainly help. Not only would he provide three-point shooting, but the grit and hustle he’d bring to the Knicks culture would help build upon what the team already has.
In 78 games this season, Niang averaged 8.2 points, 2.4 rebounds, and 1.0 assists while shooting 44.2% from the field and 40.1% from beyond the arc on 4.9 attempts. He may have his frustrating moments, but adding this good of a three-point shooter is something the Knicks could really use.
All three of these players bring a similar skill set to the Knicks at a relatively cheap price. If New York wants to improve upon the issues they had last season, they must consider signing, if not these three players, then similar ones.
