1. C Joel Embiid
The offseason for both the Knicks and 76ers started not that long ago and there are already an insane amount of rumors flying around about New York trading for MVP center Joel Embiid in a monster trade package.
In this scenario, the Knicks would likely have to surrender players like Quentin Grimes, Immanuel Quickley, or maybe even RJ Barrett. However, they’d be acquiring one of the top five players in the league. It’s a hefty price to pay, but adding Embiid would instantly make the Knicks championship contenders in the East.
Not only would Embiid be the best player to suit up for the Knicks since Patrick Ewing, but he’d fit in remarkably well with the energy that comes with Madison Square Garden. He may have his “injury concerns” but if the Knicks are serious about contending they need to look into acquiring Embiid if he’s made available.
New York can’t afford to miss out on getting a player like Embiid. Not only would he push them closer to contention, but the Knicks could also likely bring in some players who have the desire to play next to a league MVP.
Who knows if Embiid will end up wanting out. This honestly all depends on whether or not James Harden re-signs with the 76ers. If he ends up signing elsewhere, it’s hard to imagine a world where Embiid chooses to stay on a team that has continuously failed him since he was drafted. This is where the Knicks must step in and steal him from their division rival.
