Fell flat: Kevin Knox

Kevin Knox spent the second half of the 2021-22 season on the Hawks after being sent to Atlanta as part of the Cam Reddish trade. In the offseason, Knox was a free agent and signed a two-year, $6 million deal with Detroit. He played in 42 games for the Pistons and averaged 5.6 points and 2.6 rebounds before being traded to the Trail Blazers in a four-team deal ahead of the trade deadline.

Knox was able to have an increased role in Portland once it became clear that the team wouldn’t secure a play-in spot. He averaged 8.5 points and 3.3 rebounds in an average of 17.1 minutes in 21 games.

His future is once again unclear due to the team option that he has for 2023-24. The Trail Blazers may choose to pick it up due to it being only $3 million, but that’s still yet to be determined. If Portland declines it, Knox will once again become a free agent.

The 23-year-old has hopped around the NBA after being traded by New York, and for his sake, it’d be nice to see him find some sort of stability next season. However, he’s a far cry from the player that the Knicks thought he would be when they drafted him No. 9 overall in 2018.
