The 2022-23 season has been full of ups and downs for RJ Barrett after he signed a four-year extension with the New York Knicks in the offseason. He’s coming off a four-point performance (2-of-8 from the field, 0-of-3 from three) in the Knicks’ 124-106 win over the Nets on Monday.
Barrett was a late scratch in last week’s game against Philadelphia due to a non-COVID illness and he was seen returning to the locker room during Monday’s game. He played in only 24 minutes against Brooklyn, which isn’t normal for him.
New York is in Atlanta on Wednesday to face Trae Young and the Hawks in the team’s final game before the All-Star break. The Knicks have won two straight and are a half-game back from the Heat, who sit in No. 6 in the East. The team needs to enter the break with a win.
