It’s been seven months since the Golden State Warriors won their fourth title in eight seasons, but one of the main people in charge of their dynasty could soon be on his way out.

Bob Myers is in his 12th season as the head of basketball operations for the Warriors and his contract will run out in July, but there’s been no traction on an extension for the 47-year-old. According to The Athletic (subscription required), “… many around Myers are wondering whether – and even predicting that – his days with the Warriors are about to run out.”

Myer’s departure would be huge not only for the Warriors but for the league as a whole. The Athletic wrote that he reportedly believes he should be one of the highest-paid front office executives in the NBA, and he certainly has an argument to be the highest-paid executive.

Knicks fans might be wondering what Myers’ future has to do with the team that they root for. If Myers’ time with Golden State will indeed come to an end over the summer, New York, Washington, and Phoenix “are all worth monitoring as possibilities” as are the Clippers.

Warriors GM Bob Myers linked to Knicks with his contract ending in July

There are more questions than answers when it comes to the Knicks being listed as a possible landing spot for Bob Myers, such as what it would mean for Leon Rose. Would Rose go? Or would Myers join Rose in the front office? Those are valid questions.

It can’t be understated how monumental Myers joining the Knicks organization would be. The Athletic went into detail about the role that he’s played with the Warriors, such as his close relationship with Steph Curry and him being the reason why Kevin Durant signed with Golden State in free agency in 2016. The Warriors would be left with a void that they wouldn’t be able to fill if Myers were to go elsewhere.

With New York being an organization that has been the laughingstock of the league in large part due to James Dolan’s ineptitude, Bob Myers’ arrival in NYC would be a colossal move, but the path to get to that point would be full of competition, especially from the Suns.

Knicks fans, keep an eye on the situation that’s unraveling out on the West Coast.
