As the New York Knicks gear up for another matchup against the Raptors on Sunday night, a report about what Toronto is looking for in a possible OG Anunoby trade has surfaced. The Knicks reportedly inquired about Anunoby earlier in the season and with the Raptors underperforming, the 25-year-old could be traded ahead of the Feb. 9 deadline.

According to Doug Smith of the Toronto Star, the Raptors are reportedly looking to receive two promising young players on team-friendly deals and a first-round pick in exchange for Anunoby. Considering that ESPN’s Zach Lowe said that the Raptors could ask for a package similar to the one that the Jazz got for Donovan Mitchell if they traded Anunoby, two players and a first-round pick is a better deal.

If the Knicks are truly interested in acquiring Anunoby in the next few weeks, they could put together a package that would appease the Raptors.

Will Knicks trade for Raptors’ OG Anunoby ahead of Feb. 9 deadline?

Let’s say that Masai Ujiri does decide to make OG Anunoby available. Toronto would certainly receive multiple calls from different teams, so New York would have competition.

Cam Reddish has been labeled as the likeliest Knicks player to be traded, but he isn’t exactly a promising young player. New York is reportedly looking to receive second-round draft compensation in a Reddish trade and Ujiri knows that. So no, the Knicks wouldn’t get by with throwing Reddish, Obi Toppin, and a first-round pick in a deal because not only would that not work financially, but Toronto would want something more.

A package of Reddish, Toppin, and Immanuel Quickley would work financially, though. Toppin and Quickley should fit the Raptors’ criteria of two promising young players, but would the Knicks be willing to move on from IQ? Toppin has popped up in trade rumors as has Quickley, but the latest reports indicate that New York is no longer shopping IQ. However, that could change if the front office knows that Anunoby is available.

As the days continue to go by, the likelihood of Toronto making moves ahead of the deadline grows. Leon Rose is likely on standby waiting to see what happens with not only Anunoby but Gary Trent Jr. as well. In the coming weeks, the Knicks could strike a deal with their division rival.
