As the trade deadline draws nearer, the Cam Reddish trade talks are heating up. It’s been nearly a year since the New York Knicks sent a protected 2022 first-round pick to the Hawks alongside Kevin Knox II for the 2019 lottery pick and a 2025 second-round pick.

Since then, Reddish has shown promising spurts here and there, but for the most part, Tom Thibodeau has shown a reluctance to play Reddish. After impressing as a starter in several games earlier in the season, Reddish has been delegated back to the bench. It’s been a month and a half since he last played in a game, which ironically enough was against Dallas on Dec. 3.

Marc Stein (subscription required) wrote that according to league sources, Reddish “is the New York Knick most likely to be moved” between now and the Feb. 9 deadline. It’s been reported that the Lakers and Bucks have shown interest in Reddish, but according to Stein, the Mavericks are the latest team to inquire about the forward.

Here’s the kicker — Stein wrote that the Knicks “are angling for Dallas to send Thibodeau favorite Reggie Bullock to New York in a Reddish deal.”

Knicks reportedly interested in bringing Reggie Bullock back to New York in potential Cam Reddish trade

As Marc Stein noted, Reggie Bullock is “held in high regard” by Dallas although he is shooting only 36.4% from the field and 33.8% from three. The 31-year-old is making $10 million this season and has a partially guaranteed salary of $10.5 million in 2023-24.

After spending two seasons in New York, Bullock signed a three-year, $30.5 million deal with the Mavericks in August of 2021. In his first season in Dallas, he averaged 10.6 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 1.7 assists in 18 games in the postseason while shooting 40.4% from the floor and 39.7% from deep.

Bullock’s second season with the Knicks lined up with the team’s first playoff appearance in eight seasons. With New York currently sitting at No. 6 in the Eastern Conference with a 25-20 record, Bullock would be a key 3-and-D piece.

The Knicks’ reported asking price for Reddish is two second-round picks, but Bullock and Reddish’s salaries would work in a swap. It would be great to see Bullock back in New York, especially if he’s able to get back into a shooting groove in the Garden. Get it done, Leon.
