What are Knicks looking to receive in Cam Reddish trade?

After cracking the starting lineup earlier in the season, Cam Reddish is now a non-factor for the New York Knicks. The 23-year-old didn’t make Tom Thibodeau’s nine-man rotation and even with the Knicks dealing with injuries over the past few weeks, Reddish has remained on the bench.

It’s nearly been a year since New York sent a protected first-round pick and Kevin Knox to Atlanta in exchange for Reddish, but things haven’t worked out as hoped. Reddish hasn’t played since Dec. 3 when the Knicks lost to the Mavericks.

A couple of weeks ago, Reddish revealed that he isn’t sure what he needs to do to get back in the rotation, but that he’s focusing on what he can control. It’s been said before, but especially after watching Evan Fournier get minutes over Reddish, it seems as if Reddish has already played his final game for New York.

With the trade deadline less than a month away, New York’s reported asking price for Reddish has been revealed. According to HoopsHype, “the Knicks are willing to part with Reddish for two second-round picks.”

Knicks reportedly looking to receive two second-round picks in Cam Reddish trade

The Lakers are a team that’s been linked to Cam Reddish and Rob Pelinka has been extremely reluctant to part ways with one (or both) of LA’s first-round picks. Depending on how interested the Lakers are, Pelinka should be willing to give up two second-round picks.

As Knicks fans continue to wait for a star to come to New York, the front office’s priority could be to bring in additional draft stock to add to their trove of picks. When the Immanuel Quickley trade rumors were flying around a few weeks ago, it was reported that the Knicks wanted a first-round pick in exchange for him. As HoopsHype noted, Quickley’s impressive play as a starter has quieted those rumors, but that goes to show where the front office’s head is at.

It’s unclear as to what the plan was when New York traded for Reddish almost a year ago. When he arrived, he was stashed on the bench by Thibodeau and although he’s had some highs since then, his tenure with the Knicks is likely going to end where it began — on the bench.

A trade seems to be a certainty at this point, and wherever Cam Reddish ends up, hopefully he’ll be able to prove that he was worthy of being a lottery pick back in 2019.
