Evan Fournier shot 39% from three-point range last season for the New York Knicks. He finished third on the team behind Derrick Rose and Alec Burks, who both shot 40%. Fournier shot about eight threes per game while Rose attempted four and Burks attempted around five.

Fournier is the clear shooter on the roster, making three three-pointers per game, the most on the team. With Burks now in Detroit and Rose being more of a mid-range threat, there’s only one shooter on the team; Evan Fournier!

In the NBA in 2022, that’s not a good thing. The three-ball defines the league these days and you need more than one shooter to win.

The Toronto Raptors have four players who can consistently make three-pointers. The Boston Celtics have four to five guys who can knock down the three and the Brooklyn Nets do as well. To be honest, on any given night, the Philadelphia 76ers have about six guys who can drain the deep ball. And these are only the teams in the Atlantic Division! I didn’t even mention the countless shooters in other divisions.

The Knicks need to have a sense of urgency in this department. We have a couple of guys that will shoot the deep ball, but there’s no guarantee that it’s going in.

When RJ Barrett, Julius Randle, or Immanuel Quickley launches from three, it’s always a toss-up as to whether it’s going to go in or not. When Evan Fournier puts it up, it’s safe to say that fans feel good about the shot. And when Fournier’s hot, it’s hard to cool him down!

Leon Rose, please get Fournier a shooting buddy! There’s a few on the market.

3 three-point shooters that the Knicks could add to their roster

Carmelo Anthony

As he has gotten older, Carmelo Anthony has become more of a shooter, especially from deep.  Melo is known as one of the best scorers in NBA history, as he can score at all levels. I’m happy he wore the white, blue, and orange for seven seasons. Now, let’s bring him back!

He is still a free agent and might remain one when the season begins. Leon Rose, pick up the phone!

Last season with the Los Angeles Lakers, Anthony shot the three ball at 38%. I’d say he’d be great to use off the bench.
