With a 3-1 record, the New York Knicks will play against the Portland Trail Blazers in the 2022 NBA Summer League Championship at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas on Sunday.

The Trail Blazers were the Knicks’ lone loss this past week. New York jumped out to a 24-9 lead after the first quarter of play against Portland on Monday night, but lost 88-77. Quentin Grimes had 24 points and Miles McBride had 14. Jabari Walker led the Trail Blazers with 14 points and 13 rebounds.

In New York’s 102-89 win over the Magic on Thursday, McBride had 23 points (9-of-13), five rebounds, five assists, and three steals. Grimes finished with 22 points (7-of-19), six rebounds, and four assists. Feron Hunt had 13 (5-of-11), Jericho Sims had 12 points (5-of-5) and 10 rebounds, and Trevor Keels posted 10 points (4-of-11).

Grimes currently sits at the top of the Summer League MVP Ladder. He’s averaging 23.5 points per game and is shooting 43.7% from the field.

With the Donovan Mitchell trade talk running rampant, and the Utah Jazz reportedly being interested in Grimes, the 22-year-old could be on the move this offseason. If that doesn’t happen, he’ll have an increased role with New York in 2022-23.

But for now, the focus is on New York’s summer squad getting the win over Portland.
