Knicks vs. Trail Blazers 2022 NBA Summer League preview for July 11
It’s Christmas in July for New York Knicks fans. New York is 2-0 in the 2022 NBA Summer League in Las Vegas. After crushing the Chicago Bulls on Sunday, 101-69, the Knicks will follow that up with a late contest against the Portland Trail Blazers on Monday night.
Quentin Grimes led New York with 24 points (7-of-14), 4 rebounds, and 4 assists. Miles McBride had 14 points (6-of-8), 3 rebounds, 6 assists, and 3 steals. Jericho Sims posted his second-consecutive summer league double-double with 11 points (5-of-6) and 10 rebounds.
Portland’s No. 7 pick Shaedon Sharpe suffered a labral tear against Detroit in the Trail Blazers’ 81-78 on Thursday and will be out for the remainder of summer league.
On Saturday, Portland had a blowout win of its own, beating New Orleans 85-68. Trendon Watford had 17 points, 11 rebounds, and 5 assists. Brandon Williams posted 14 points.
The Knicks will look to continue their dominance against the Trail Blazers. It’s a late tip, but based on the way that the young guys performed in New York’s first two games, it’s going to be worth staying up for. After all, we could see Grimes as a starter in 2022-23.
