1: Bobby Portis

Bobby Portis won his first title last season and he and the Bucks have a chance to repeat as champions this year. His time with the Knicks was limited to one season in 2019-20 and Portis has since established himself in Milwaukee.

He signed a two-year deal with the Bucks as a free agent in the summer of 2020 and before the start of 2021-22, Milwaukee re-signed him to another two-year deal. Portis has a $4.6 player option for 2022-23, but there isn’t a reason to believe that he’ll be leaving Wisconsin anytime soon.

The 27-year-old averaged 14.6 points, 9.1 rebounds, and 1.2 assists in the 72 games (59 starts) he played in for the Bucks during the regular season. He shot 47.9% from the floor and 39.3% from three.

Portis is back to being Milwaukee’s sixth man now that Brook Lopez is back in the starting lineup, which is a role that he thrived in during the Bucks’ previous championship run.

In the playoffs, he’s averaged 11 points and 9.9 rebounds in nine games. Portis is an offensive spark off the bench and although Milwaukee’s series is tied 2-2 with Boston, he could very well win a second title in as many seasons. If only he could’ve been able to do that in New York…
