3. Trade for a disgruntled superstar

New York can easily improve in time for next season by trading for a disgruntled star player in the offseason. Utah Jazz guard Donovan Mitchell’s been the biggest trade rumor circulating around the Knicks for a while now.

The Knicks have the assets to strike a deal for the New York native, as they hold multiple high-value draft picks, along with promising young talent. Bringing in a player of Mitchell’s caliber would instantly make New York a contender next season.

Mitchell’s currently under contract until 2026, but rumors have been coming out left and right that the Jazz star isn’t currently enjoying his time in Utah and could soon want out.

If the rumors are in fact true and he does end up wanting out of Utah during the offseason, then the Knicks must do everything they can to bring Mitchell home.
