The New York Knicks are back in the city and will face the Brooklyn Nets at Barclays Center on Sunday afternoon. The 28-39 Knicks are in 12th place in the East and the 34-33 Nets are in eighth.

New York’s three-game winning streak was snapped on Friday night in a 118-114 loss to Memphis. Julius Randle led the Knicks with 36 points (11-of-27) and RJ Barrett had 23 (9-of-25).

Brooklyn’s won two games in a row and blew out Philadelphia on Thursday night, 129-100. Kevin Durant had 25 points (10-of-17) and Seth Curry scored 24 (10-of-14).

The Nets have beaten New York twice this year, with the most recent match-up taking place on Feb. 16 at MSG. Rookie Cam Thomas led Brooklyn with 21 points off the bench and Randle had 31 for the Knicks.

Will New York be able to beat the Nets for the first time this season? Or will the Knicks fall to 0-3 on the regular season against their cross-town rival?

New York Knicks injury report

New York Knicks vs. Brooklyn Nets prediction

Although the Nets will once again be without Kyrie Irving and Ben Simmons, this is a game that Brooklyn should win. After all, it was less than a month ago when the Nets beat the Knicks without Durant, Irving, or Simmons.

However, New York has played well in its last four games and nearly beat the second-best team in the league two nights ago. Brooklyn shouldn’t sleep on the Knicks, especially given the implications for the play-in tournament.

I don’t envision anyone on New York finding a way to lock down Durant, though. Even with his presence and Randle and Barrett’s recent offensive surge, I’m going with the under. If Irving were playing instead of sitting courtside, I’d be sticking with the over.

Nonetheless, this sound be an exciting game. Don’t be surprised if the Knicks stick around for a while.

We’re taking the Nets -5.5 and under 225.5 points.

Brooklyn 113, New York 106.
