The bad: The price tag

At this point, Walker feels like dead weight on the Knicks’ roster. His degenerative knee injury has left his once-promising NBA career in question. In the modern league, his greatest value to the team is his lucrative expiring contract.

Leon Rose and company would be wise to market this deal early and often when the trade window reopens. If they focus their efforts, they may very well land a larger prize than Fultz.

When you add in Reddish, who the Knicks just sacrificed former lottery pick Kevin Knox and a first-round draft pick to acquire, the deal feels much more one-sided.

I’ve written before that the presence of Reddish and RJ Barrett is an interesting combination as tension with former Duke teammate Zion Williamson grows in New Orleans. It’s a pipedream but if the relationship between player and franchise continues to deteriorate, New York would be on the shortlist of top destinations for Williamson, another former No. 1 pick.

If this trade were to happen and Reddish packs his bags and heads to Florida, that may sway Williamson from signing with the Knicks (if things come to that). At the same time, though, that could be a good thing given his injury history.
