New York Knicks vs Memphis Grizzles: Best Bets & Predictions
Tonight, the New York Knicks take on the Memphis Grizzles in Madison Square Garden, an arena that has not been kind to its home team this season.
The Knicks have a 13-14 record at home and an 11-13 record away, both sub .500 winning percentages.
New York is 3-7 over their last 10 games while the Grizzlies are 6-4.
Memphis is certainly having a bit of a coming-out party this season as they currently sit comfortably in the 3rd seed in the West.
The Knicks on the other hand are just trying to make their way into the playoff conversation as they currently sit in the 11th seed, and yet somehow they’re just 8.5 games out of 1st place.
Here are your Best Bets for tonight’s New York Knicks game
The East is a Beast this year.
The Knicks are entering a stretch of games filled with tough opponents and long road trips, so they’ll likely be scouring the trade market in an attempt to better their chances of postseason play.
Spread:
Grizzlies -3.5 (-110)
Knicks +3.5 (-110)
Moneyline:
Grizzlies -160
Knicks +130
Total:
217 (Over -110/Under -110)
Memphis is currently in 1st place in the league in regards to spreads covered this season, doing so over 64% of the time.
The Knicks on the other hand only cover the spread in 49% of their games.
And as the home team, it gets slightly worse for the Knicks, who have only covered 48% of the time at home while Memphis, again, has the highest cover percentage as the Away team.
Doesn’t look too great for the Knicks who are only being given between 3.5 points tonight.
Both Memphis and New York are around the middle of the pack when it comes to going Over or Under, but the Grizzles lean more toward the Over in their games (50%) while the Knicks actually hit ‘the under’ in 56% of their games.
With that said, you may want to lean toward the Under here, but I’m actually going with the Over, and here’s why.
Both teams have been scoring over their season averages in their last three games, with Memphis averaging 117.7 per game and the Knicks averaging 106.7 per game.
So not only have these teams been scoring more as of late, but the Knicks, while having one of the slowest paces in the league, tend to try to match the pace of their opponents.
Out of the Top 10 fastest teams in the league, the Knicks have recently played 6 of them in the last few weeks.
Those teams are Charlotte (L), Sacramento (W), Minnesota (L), San Antonio (W), Clippers (W), and Milwaukee (L).
The only wins the Knicks got were against some of the worst teams in the league, while the other squads who are way ahead of New York in the standings wrecked them.
I don’t see the Grizzlies blowing the Knicks out, so there may be a lot of scoring going on tonight.
With the Grizzlies being the 4th fastest team in regards to pacing this year, the Knicks are going to have to try to score more quickly if they’re going to keep up.
As much as it pains me, I’m betting the Grizzles and the Over here in hopes that the Knicks pull out the win and embarrass me.
If the Knicks win, I don’t care about any bets I made, but if they cover and lose in this one, then I’ll be pissed.
Final Verdict: Memphis -3.5 and Over 217
