With the NY Knicks struggling so far this season, the majority of the fanbase wants the front office to make changes to the roster.
Some are calling for a major trade like a deal for Myles Turner or De’Aaron Fox while others are asking for team star Julius Randle to be shipped off to the highest bidder.
I for one think the Knicks can right the ship without making any major adjustments to the roster composition.
That said, NBA Analysis Network released this trade concept where the Knicks received Houston wing, Eric Gordon.
Gordon is an intriguing player and we’ve discussed the idea of a trade here at Daily Knicks as well.
Would you want Eric Gordon on the NY Knicks?
As reported by The Daily News, Derrick Rose tried recruiting Gordon to the Knicks back in 2016 after his trade from Chicago, so the fact that Rose is back in orange and blue could help facilitate a trade.
"Knicks point guard Derrick Rose has had Rockets shooting guard Eric Gordon on his radar. Now, with the Dec. 15 trade marker past, Knicks president Leon Rose does, too.Gordon is on a long list of potentially available players the Knicks have talked about internally, according to a source. The 3-point shooting guard isn’t a fit for the rebuilding Rockets, as he turns 33 on Christmas Day.The Post reported in 2016 — after Rose was traded to the Knicks — that he was trying to recruit the then-free agent Gordon to New York. Gordon eventually signed a deal with New Orleans."
Anywho, here’s the trade NBA Analysis Network came up with:
I really don’t think the people that write these articles are Knicks fans, because while Gordon to New York could make sense, that trade certainly doesn’t.
Like, why are we doing Houston the favor of absorbing Eric Gordon’s nearly $40 million contract for the rest of this season and next season?
The entire league knows Gordon being there doesn’t make any sense, as Houston is rebuilding.
Why would the Knicks trade Kemba Walker who literally just won Eastern Conference Player of the Week and is seemingly developing chemistry with the team, most notably Julius Randle?
Also, I just can’t see the Knicks moving on from such a recent first-round pick in Quentin Grimes so soon, especially when all they’re getting in return is Eric Gordon.
Lastly, why would the rebuilding Houston Rockets be the ones giving up draft picks?
It’s all a bit silly to me.
Here’s a trade I would consider instead.
I was stuck between giving up Noel or Burks and I finally decided on Noel because the Knicks have a much deeper Center rotation than they do Wings.
I believe Noel is a more expendable player as opposed to Alec Burks, overall.
Now, the trade I came up with would likely cause a bit of a logjam at the guard/wing position, but in a Covid world, it’s never a bad thing to have too much depth.
Mind you, regular injuries still exist as well.
Also, the Knicks could possibly move Burks in a separate deal as he presents much more value than Noel would in a trade.
All in all, I think I’d rather just stick with what the Knicks have on the roster as opposed to dealing with either of the two trades presented.
