The New York Knicks are desperate for a win and look to break their 4-game losing streak when they go up against the rebuilding Houston Rockets this evening.

After a very promising start to the season at 5 and 1, the Knicks haven’t done a lot of winning since then, and the fanbase’s rumblings are being heard throughout the internet.

Some think a huge trade for a star like Myles Turner or Ben Simmons could right the ship while others believe the team should have never strayed away from the rebuild with an emphasis on the young core.

Here is your betting preview for tonight’s New York Knicks game

Either way, as of now the Knicks seem to be at a bit of a crossroads and need to start making a decision as to which direction they’d like to commit to.

Here are the odds as per WynnBet.

Predictions, Breakdown, and Injury Report:

Spread:

  • Knicks -5 (-110)
  • Rockets +5 (-110)

Moneyline:

  • Knicks: -200
  • Rockets: +180

Total:

  • 214 (Over -110/Under -110)

If it hasn’t been hard enough to be a Knicks fan this season…

RJ Barrett, Quentin Grimes, Obi Toppin, and Kevin Knox are all out of this game, all for Covid-19 protocol-related reasons.

As this is being written, the Rockets are surely without both Jalen Green and Christian Wood while Danuel House Jr and Kevin Porter Jr are also likely to miss the game.

Eric Gordon is expected to return during Thursday night’s contest.

With all these missing pieces on both sides, it seems somewhat reminiscent of the Knicks of yesteryear.

Ok, maybe not that bad but still…

The Knicks’ strength so far this season above all else has been their depth and when you’re missing a key starter, a key bench player, and two other guys who have shown up big as of late, not having that depth is going to hurt.

That said, Houston is by far one of the worst teams in the league even when healthy and if they’re also missing a bunch of their key contributors, it evens the playing field a bit.

Even when considering all of the injuries on both sides, the 2 best players on the court (Derrick Rose and Julius Randle) will be wearing Orange and Blue uniforms, so it’s hard to bet against the Knicks in this one.

So if you wanna just play it safe and bet the Moneyline, the Knicks at -200 is the bet to take.

Regarding the spread, the Knicks are one of the three worst teams at covering the spread in the league (39.3%) while the Rockets are surprisingly the 10th best team ATS (55.6%).

Rockets at +5 seems to be the bet to take here but maybe buy half a point just in case as the line did drop from 5.5 originally.

The money seems to be pretty evenly split on the spread so you could really go either way here.

As far as the Over/Under, both teams score under more often than not with both teams ranking in the bottom half of the league (Houston 53.6% of the time, New York 57.1% of the time).

Plus, nearly 70% of the money is on the Over as of now, so I say fade the public here and stick with the Under as both teams are missing a lot of their scorers.

Final Verdict:

Knicks ML -200, Houston +5.5 (buy the half a point), and Under 214

Next. 3 trades for Pacers not named Myles Turner. dark
