Would you consider this trade for Paul George?

As I’m sure you could already tell, this one is a bit of a doozy.

I know it’s gonna take some people a minute to digest but just hear me out for just a second or two.

It’s a lot to give up sure, but in all likelihood, the Knicks would have to overpay for Paul George if they wanted to try to pry him away from the Clippers.

Some might say PG13 doesn’t move the needle, but I beg to differ.

It was just 3 short seasons ago that George finished 3rd in MVP voting, even while sharing the court with Russell Westbrook.

This season, Paul George is replicating his MVP-caliber season and then some to the tune of 28.9 points, 7.7 rebounds, 4.7 assists, and 3 steals per game while shooting 42% from deep, 51% from the field, and 85% from the charity stripe.

So far this year, he’s performing better than he did in basically every statistical category from the 2018-19 season.

And Paul George, unlike the majority of the ‘Superstars’ in the league who the Knicks could potentially target in the coming seasons is a 4-time All-Defensive team player, which would fit in quite nicely in a Tom Thibodeau led team.

Targetting a guy who can score at will from all 3 levels and is one of the best defenders in the league certainly couldn’t hurt.

As far as Myles Turner, I recently wrote an article discussing if a trade for Turner would make the Knicks title contenders.

I know just adding him alone wouldn’t be enough, but I did mention that he could be one of two pieces the Knicks could add that would make them as legit a contender as can be.

This is being written just hours after Myles Turner lit up the Knicks with a personal record of 7 threes in a game.

For them to get a player who’s a better defender and better rim protector than Mitchell Robinson while also being able to stretch the floor would do wonders for guys like Julius Randle and RJ Barrett.

Lastly, the Knicks acquire Isaiah Jackson in the swap as well because, after this deal, they’d be pretty thin at Center without including him.

I was personally high on Jackson coming out of the draft and really thought the Knicks would consider him with one of their two first-rounders.

The Kentucky connection could not be denied, so I thought.
