Who Should the New York Knicks’ closer? Option 2 RJ Barrett

Remember how I mentioned that RJ had shown flashes in clutch situations? Yeah, it’s time that he starts to show if it is more than flashes.

DailyKnicks has discussed RJ Barrett being clutch, calling him the most clutch player on the team last year.

Barrett has hit multiple big shots already 2 years into a career that has not once had an 82 game season yet.  Barrett hit a go-ahead layup against Houston in his rookie year and made a clutch three earlier this year against the Memphis Grizzlies in overtime.

Barrett seems to have the clutch gene, something that cannot be taught.  With his shooting improvements, Barrett could become very useful in the clutch.

Barrett also now has a chip on his shoulder, as Anthony Edwards, also known as the man who had to re-class because he was failing high school, had a high-school-failure-level take on Barrett taking the last shot.

Now in his third season, Barrett is less of a prospect and more of an up-and-coming star. He’s still only 21, but he has NBA experience and is a heads-up player, mix that with his clutch gene, and you have a player who should be getting the ball at the end of the game.

I’m one of those people who believes that the best way to gain NBA experience is to get NBA experience, so I’m all for throwing RJ into the fire as the guy to take the last shot.  Barrett isn’t first on my list because of the new Knick, who is historically clutch, and that man’s name is…
