Is Damian Lillard destined to play for the NY Knicks?

I’m still holding out hope for a Damian Lillard trade.

Chris Haynes, a Yahoo Sports reporter who’s Dame’s closest confidante in the media mentioned weeks ago that Lillard may be requesting a trade sooner than later.

But it never happened.

Still, it’s obvious he’s frustrated by his situation with Portland and they’ve done basically everything they could do this offseason in an attempt NOT to keep him so far.

First, they fire Terry Stotts and replace him with a first-time head coach in Chauncey Billups…not something you want to do if your goal is to compete for a title.

Next, they lost several pieces from last season’s team, most notably former Knicks star Carmelo Anthony.

They re-signed Norman Powell and basically made no other roster moves to try to get someone in-house that could help Dame’s cause.

That said, I think the organization has somehow convinced Dame to give them just one more year to figure things out, and I’m not entirely too sure why or how.

The guy is as good as gone.

Vegas odds as well as Stephen A. Smith of ESPN believe that the Knicks would be Dame’s preferred destination if he were to be traded.

But if Dame wants to win now, a team like Philadelphia may make a blockbuster trade at some point this offseason to bring Lillard onboard.

They’re just much more prepared for title contention than the Knicks are today.

If he’s not traded to Philly during this current offseason, he may very well become a Knick after all.
