Would you compare NY Knicks’ Miles McBride to Jrue Holiday?
Can we talk about Deuce McBride a little bit? I wanna talk about Deuce McBride…I wanna talk about him for the rest of my life.
At this point, I’m shocked that the Knicks passed on him and went with Rokas at 34 instead.
Again, maybe this is some Summer League overreaction but if the front office knew what they had in Deuce, I’m shocked they passed on him at 19…but that’s why they get paid the big bucks and I don’t.
I’ve heard all of your Marcus Smart comps but I see a much higher ceiling for young Deuce McBride.
His intensity and tenacity on defense will keep him in the league for a very long time, but it’s his scoring upside that makes me believe the Knicks may have just found an absolute gem all the way at the 36th pick.
Heck, he may end his rookie season on an All-Rookie list depending on a few factors like the health of Kemba Walker and Derrick Rose for example.
The kid has upside that’s through the freakin’ roof.
His willingness to pick up his man full-court and smother him reminds me of both Holiday and Smart.
But when you pour it on a team and close out a game all on your own as he did against the Lakers, you lean more towards the former All-Star Jrue Holiday in my eyes.
McBride put up 22 points, 5 assists, and 7 rebounds while shooting 6 of 6 from long-range.
You can tell he’s playing with a bit of a chip on his shoulder, and that will keep his name in the back of Coach Thibs’ mind when he announces the final roster.
I want to see what McBride can do on the offensive side of the ball against legitimate NBA-caliber defenders this season to see if what he’s been able to do during Summer League is the real deal or not.
Either way, he’s not only going to make the roster, but I’m positive he’s going to get a decent amount of playing time at the backup 1 or 2 spots during the regular season.
