The NY Knicks are going to have a fun point guard duo next season. With New York officially signing Kemba Walker on Wednesday, they can now boast some point guard depth that includes Walker, Derrick Rose, Immanuel Quickley, and rookie Miles McBride.

The Kemba Walker signing came out of nowhere. After NY made their initial flurry of free agency moves that included retaining Derrick Rose, there was a brief settling of dust where it seemed like Rose could simply be the team’s starting point guard.

Rumors started to swirl that New York was in fact looking for another point guard, with Reggie Jackson and Dennis Schroder as the main targets. Then, like Gandalf’s arrival at Helm’s Deep, Kemba Walker appeared after suddenly being bought out by the Oklahoma City Thunder and instantly joining the Knicks.

It has been a long time since the NY Knicks could feel good bout their point guard situation. Now they have two veteran guards — guards who have had fantastic NBA careers and are now settling into more secondary roles.

The question now for the Knicks is, how are they going to handle both of these guards? Let’s start with what the initial rotation and playing time may look like.
