Was that not one of the most exhilarating NY Knicks Drafts you’ve ever been a part of?

Only time will tell if the trades that were made were in fact the right decision, as the Knicks left a lot of talent on the board at picks 19 and 21.

All in all, though, I believe that once the likes of Chris Duarte, Corey Kispert, Tre Mann, and Trey Murphy III were off the board, the Knicks and Leon Rose knew they would pivot and trade down.

This plan was in place all along. Clearly a backup plan, but definitely a plan nonetheless.

Once the ‘trade up’ targets were off the board, the front office knew exactly who they had in mind and also knew exactly where they could grab them.

Could rookies from the 2021 Draft take the place of some NY Knicks veterans?

Aside from the questionable trade with Charlotte, a job well done by Leon Rose and Company in their second draft together.

I graded each of the draft night trades recently, and I think the moves the Knicks made were very underrated.

One common theme we could tell the front office had in mind during this draft was focusing on guys that could contribute immediately and collecting more assets for the future.

As it stands, the Knicks have 4 primary players from last year’s roster entering free agency with major interest from other organizations.

Those players are Nerlens Noel, Derrick Rose, Alec Burks, and Reggie Bullock.

It’s safe to assume that all 4 of them won’t be back next year, but if I was a gambling man, I would bet money maybe 1 or 2 will don the orange and blue next year while the other ones take their talents elsewhere.

The Knicks came away with 4 players in the NBA Draft, but only two in my opinion could threaten to take the place of any of the 4 departing veterans from last season.

Here are the 2 players that the Knicks may have just replaced during the 2021 NBA Draft.
