NY Knicks: Ranking the team’s most tradable assets
NY Knicks tradeable asset #3: 2021 picks 19 and 21
For the first time since the 2013 draft, the NY Knicks are not in the draft lottery and will be making the 19th and 21st selections in the 1st round. While the picks being close together could be considered appealing, I don’t think their value is higher than that of a young player with a good amount of potential.
However, when you look at the Knicks’ potential trade partners, you see teams who are going to want to stack up on draft picks because a trade would signal they’re entering a rebuilding phase.
Circling back to Cleveland, they already have the 3rd overall pick and I could see them exchanging a player they don’t plan on keeping in Collin Sexton for more draft capital. When it comes to teams like the Trail Blazers though, I don’t think picks would be able to serve as the primary piece in a package to acquire a player with the level of talent that Damian Lillard has.
I think this pair of 1st round picks without a doubt has its fair share of value but again teams willing to give up important pieces from their rosters are going to require more value hence why the draft stock ranks at number three.
