NY Knicks: Brandon Boston Jr. is a high-reward gamble in the NBA Draft
By Adam Kester
As of right now, the NY Knicks have 3 selections within the first 32 picks of the 2021 NBA Draft, and they could use one of those picks on University of Kentucky’s Brandon Boston Jr.
Coming out of high school, Boston was considered a potential top-10 talent before the college season started. After a disappointing freshman season, the 19-year-old has seen his stock fall into becoming a fringe-1st round prospect on most draft boards. Whoever decides to take a chance on Boston could be getting tremendous value.
NY Knicks: Brandon Boston Jr. is worth the pick at 32
I’ve probably written something similar in every draft piece so far this offseason, but I will once again hammer it home – this is a loaded draft class. In terms of just prospect grades and measuring the ceilings and potential levels of success of these players, this year’s class is a lot more dynamic than last year’s.
Not all drafts are created equal, and the NY Knicks have some serious value with picks 19, 21, and 32.
NY is going to be in a sweet spot of potential wings and guards at picks 19, 21, and if I’m guessing how the draft will unfold, I think they have a good shot at landing Brandon Boston Jr. with their pick at 32 where he would be great value.
There are plenty of teams picking at the end of the first round who may opt for the safer, instant-contributor picks. New York could look to pounce on Boston if he’s there at 32 – he is a popular name that has been floated as a potential draft-day steal.
