The NY Knicks are just under 2 weeks away from the 2021 NBA Draft and Auburn University point guard Sharife Cooper could be on the team’s radar.

Cooper is one of the top guard prospects in the draft and his exceptional skills as a primary ball-handler have many NBA teams eyeing him as a possible long-term, all-star-level point guard.

According to SNY’s Ian Begley, The Knicks appear to be gauging other teams’ interest in Cooper. He has picked up a ton of buzz as a potential lottery pick.

New York is entering the draft with picks 19 and 21 and Cooper falling to them is far from unrealistic. Still, you have to wonder just how high the team’s interest is in the 19-year-old point guard – is it strong  enough to trade up for him?

The NY Knicks backcourt is still up in the air. Between Derrick Rose’s unrestricted free agency and the rest of the guards on the roster, New York is going to have to restructure their backcourt rotation.

There have been plenty of big names floated in the rumor mill – from trade targets such as Damian Lillard and Collin Sexton to free agents like Kyle Lowry and Lonzo Ball.

Could Sharife Cooper be the answer? Let’s look at his game and how he could fit in New York.
