Should the NY Knicks draft Trey Murphy III with pick #32 of the 2021 NBA Draft?

Man, oh man is Trey Murphy III gonna be good one day. I just know it.

The former Virginia Cavalier is a stretch forward with the ability to play either the 3 or the 4, and his primary strength is just what the description says…stretching the floor.

He could be the best shooter in this year’s draft when it’s all said and done, and yes I mean potentially one day being better than the likes of Corey Kispert and Moses Moody.

The 6’9 Murphy is projected to go anywhere between the late 1st round and the early 2nd and the Knicks should definitely take a flier on him if his name is there at #32.

He fits Coach Thibs’ criteria of a wing that can shoot. Murphy shot 43% from deep on around 5 attempts per game.

He’s also an elite free-throw shooter, shooting 93% this last year.

With a reported 7’1 wingspan, there isn’t a player that fits the definition for that role more than Murphy.

Drawing comparisons to the newest version of Jae Crowder (the one that can shoot, not sub-30% Jae Crowder from like 7 years ago) and a big Danny Green, the Knicks would be silly to pass Murphy up on draft night.

Even if it meant packaging 32, 58, and a future 2nd to move up to pick 27 or 28 to grab him, the risk would pay dividends sooner than later.
