Julius Randle has been nothing short of incredible since the beginning of the 2020-21 NY Knicks season.

He went from a middling talent who served best as a 6th man off the bench into a playoff team’s centerpiece and primary scoring option on offense and leader.

In a short period of time, he went from a player likely to be traded to the highest bidder to a player the Knicks will surely be building around for their future title run.

We as fans were so incredibly spoiled this season because we didn’t expect much more than another bad season with small glimmers of hope.

The hashtag #FadeforCade was prevalent on Knicks’ Twitter throughout November and December of 2020.

But here we are…coming off of the Knicks’ first playoff appearance in over 8 years and for the first time in a while, an upward trending team.

One thing I love about how the current situation is constructed is how much flexibility the Knicks have moving forward.

Should the NY Knicks pick up these two former teammates of Julius Randle?

I can’t remember the last time this team had the ability to improve in so many areas, in so many different ways.

We have a playoff-caliber roster today, so they can draft well and stay the course…taking things a little slower than the fanbase may want.

They could also ultimately opt to speed things up and trade a bunch of assets for a disgruntled superstar like Damian Lillard.

But in my opinion, the most likely option is that they trade some of their draft capital for veterans, pick up 1 or 2 rookies, and build out the rest of the roster through free agency.

Which brings me to the idea behind this article…who could the Knicks be targeting in free agency?

It’s not as strong a class as it once was supposed to be, with guys like Giannis, Paul George, and so on.

But there are still a number of high-level talent the Knicks could potentially sign.

Since the team is centered around Julius Randle, why not explore some signings for some of his old buddies to round out the roster.

Here are two former Julius Randle teammates the Knicks could sign in the offseason.
