The NY Knicks desperately need Derrick Rose to continue his hot streak

While Gibson’s playoff numbers are gaudy, the team’s greatest playoff contributor is none other than Derrick Rose.

The one thing that’s eluded Rose in his illustrious career has been a championship – but that hasn’t been all his fault.

A devastating knee injury that changed his career and LeBron James running the Eastern Conference threw wrenches into the point guard’s career plans.

Rose has never scored less than 9 points in every one of the 46 playoff games he’s played in – even featuring a stunning playoff career-high of 44 point performance, coming against the Atlanta Hawks in 2011.

That year he brought the Bulls back to the conference finals for the first time since the Michael Jordan era – averaging 27.1 points in 16 games until an eventual season-ending loss to James’ Miami Heat.

Rose has been a revelation for the Knicks since his return to New York – proving he still belongs on the biggest stage in basketball.

If he can put on a playoff performance as he has in the past, he’ll engrave himself in the iconic history of Knicks’ basketball.

We shouldn’t expect him to channel vintage D-Rose every night – but it’s certain that if the Knicks are to make any noise in the playoffs, Rose will play a huge part.

He helps improve the team’s performance every time he’s on the court – Thibodeau won’t have any qualms about giving his guy plenty of minutes.

The Knicks and Rose represent everything great about this season – both proving people wrong at every step on the road to redemption.

However, how long they travel along that road depends on Rose’s performance in the playoffs.
