NY Knicks Draft Target: Corey Kispert

Corey Kispert, who is arguably the best player on the number one team in the country, would also be a great fit for the NY Knicks. The 6’7 senior small forward is a sharpshooter that can score from basically anywhere on the court. With his size and ability to shoot from everywhere, he could be a mismatch nightmare for opposing defenses, having to pressure him far behind the three-point line.

Kispert averaged 19.2 points per game while shooting 54.4% from the field, 44.4% from three, and 89.8% from the line. He has both elite scoring numbers along with shooting percentages and has proven to be a big-time scorer. The Knicks lack perimeter shooting, especially at the forward position, and can use Kispert in a big way.

When the NY Knicks drafted Kevin Knox, he was viewed as a spot-up shooter at the small forward position who could spread the floor and create space. He never really panned out at the NBA level, but Kispert has proven to be a lot better of a shooter and overall player than Knox ever was. Kispert also ranks in the 95th percentile as a spot-up shooter per CBS Sports.

While he is known as a sharpshooter, which is what the Knicks desperately need, he is also no slouch on defense. Kispert is often asked to guard the opposing team’s top guard and is a good on-ball defender.

According to NBA Stats, Kispert, in his junior season, ranked in the 81st percentile in isolation defense and in the 75th percentile in post-up defense. With his 6’7 frame and ability to play post and isolation defense, he can also provide flexibility, being able to play both small forward and power forward.

Overall, Kispert would be a huge addition for the Knicks, being as good as he is at shooting the ball and giving their guards more room to operate.
