In the wake of the Derrick Rose trade to New York 2.0, it seems that the New York Knicks‘ front office is nowhere near done “wheeling-and-dealing”.

There are rumors swirling around the league and internet regarding which New York Knicks guard will be on the move next. Some speculate that teams are inquiring about Knicks combo-guard Austin Rivers due to his winning mindset and extremely team-friendly contract. I believe the odd-man-out will be Elfrid Payton, and I’ve already discussed a few trade ideas surrounding moving him here but due to his no-trade clause, Payton would have to agree to where ever the Knicks would send him before he can be moved.

Seeing how the Knicks are likely to be playoff bound this year (what?), the only trades that would make sense for Payton is to another contending team. In fact, Ian Begley of SNY recently mentioned that at least one contending playoff-bound team has shown interest in making a move for Elfrid Payton since the Derrick Rose acquisition. Here at Daily Knicks, it’s my job to speculate which contending team Leon Rose and Co. can try to fleece in a trade for Elfrid Payton — the man most Knicks fans want gone ASAP and would most likely help him pack his stuff to get young Immanuel Quickley more minutes or potentially moved into the starting rotation.

The New York Knicks might be wise to look for trades for Elfrid Payton

In my opinion, I do see the Knicks finding some way to move Payton as he just does not fit on this roster and needs to be surrounded by better shooters in order to have success in this league. I can imagine a scenario where the Knicks cut Payton if they don’t find a suitor, so before that happens, let’s explore 2 possible trade destinations that Payton would be willing to waive his no-trade clause for.
