The New York Knicks will hit the road to continue a trip away from Madison Square Garden. A look at how to watch their rematch with the Boston Celtics.

For the first time in the 2019-20 NBA season, the New York Knicks will have a rematch, with the Boston Celtics ahead on Friday, Nov. 1. This also continues a two-game road trip, which began on Wednesday, losing to the Orlando Magic by 12 points.

The Knicks fell to 1-4 in Orlando. Obviously, this is not an ideal start to their season, as double-digit point deficits have plagued them for the year’s first week. They have overcome each of them, including to defeat the Chicago Bulls at home; too often, though, it becomes an insurmountable hurdle for coach David Fizdale’s team to handle.

This time, New York will look to take a step forward against a game Celtics team, featuring Kemba Walker, Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum. This trio is among the most talented groups in the Eastern Conference, and as seen by Walker’s 30-plus point effort against the Knicks last week, they will be plenty to handle.

Questions still surround the Knicks’ point guards. Dennis Smith Jr. missed his second consecutive game Wednesday due to the passing of his stepmother, and Elfrid Payton sat out due to a groin injury. This placed RJ Barrett and Frank Ntilikina in ball-distributing roles, including 29 minutes for the former off the bench.

Who will start on Friday? As of now, that remains unknown, as Fizdale usually keeps his lineups quiet until shortly before game time. Otherwise, it could be Barrett’s return to this position and more point forward work for Julius Randle.

Mitchell Robinson will also look to get on track, as Fizdale has played the second-year center fewer than 20 minutes in each of the past two games, despite lacking a prototypical backup at this position. He continues to score and block shots, and while fouls have been an issue, he picked up just one against the Magic.
