The New York Knicks will play their second consecutive road game but in one of the Five Boroughs. A look at how to watch their matchup with the Brooklyn Nets on Friday, Oct. 25.

Wednesday’s season opener against the San Antonio Spurs featured a few chances for the New York Knicks to take control and win, but a late collapse caused their downfall, leading to a 120-111 loss. Dejounte Murray and LaMarcus Aldridge were among the Spurs’ leaders in the winning effort.

The Knicks have a chance to change their fortunes on Friday when they face the Brooklyn Nets. It is the first of four anticipated matchups this season, as the crosstown team swiped the players New York once had an opportunity to lure in free agency: Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant.

In Irving’s first official Nets game, he dropped 50 points on the Minnesota Timberwolves in an overtime effort. Replicating that figure is difficult, but a point guard like Elfrid Payton has a task ahead to cover one of the NBA’s most dynamic backcourt players.

With Payton, he lost the starting point guard battle in the preseason, after a trio of poor performances. He played off the bench in the season opener. However, a five-steal effort and teasing a double-double in points and assists made him the most productive ball distributor of the trio that included Dennis Smith Jr. and Frank Ntilikina.

Especially after the RJ BarrettAllonzo Trier backcourt failed, the newcomer at point guard has a chance to start Friday night, along with a group of unknown players, as head coach David Fizdale has yet to make a lineup official; although it would not be a surprise for Barrett, Marcus Morris and Julius Randle to open the game for the second consecutive time.

As for Mitchell Robinson, he missed the opener with a right ankle sprain. Per SNY’s Ian Begley, the second-year center practiced Thursday and is tracking towards a return against the Nets.  Bobby Portis started in his place at San Antonio.
