New York Knicks: Players we want to hear from at Media Day
The New York Knicks will participate in their annual Media Day on Monday, Sept. 30. Which players are we most looking forward to hearing from?
On Monday, Sept. 30, the New York Knicks will convene for their annual Media Day. This features rostered players speaking to the media for the first official time of the upcoming season. Most, if not all, players talk for this.
While there is anticipation to hear from each player, a few members of the Knicks roster stand out, whether due to events from the previous season or the summer, which is its own chaos in the NBA. Who are these players?
Julius Randle
For simply having the biggest contract, Julius Randle will be one of Media Day’s most intriguing participants. He signed a three-year, $62.3 million contract, with the third season only partially guaranteed. The first-year base salary is worth $18 million.
Randle had a career year with the New Orleans Pelicans in 2018-19, averaging 21.4 points and 8.7 rebounds per game. It happened on a lowly team, but the Knicks saw enough to make him the team’s highest-paid player.
Potential talking points for Randle could surround how he will follow up and if he can become this team’s leading scorer without one currently established.
Mitchell Robinson
Mitchell Robinson jumped off the court as a rookie, becoming one of the New York Knicks’ most exciting players. By season’s end, he was the starting center, after averaging nearly three blocks per game in the final months and quickly developing into a piece for the future.

Year Two could see Robinson ascend, so addressing what he expects from his game could be heard at Media Day. This includes a potential three-point shot, which most NBA contributors have developed in recent seasons.
Frank Ntilikina
Due to injuries and poor offensive play, Frank Ntilikina was barely heard from or seen in the last season’s second half. It was a difficult sophomore campaign for someone who entered the NBA needing developmental time and became a subject of whether he would even remain with the New York Knicks.
However, Media Day is almost here, and Ntilikina is still under contract.
There was not much offseason momentum for the Frenchman, until he played for Team France in the FIBA World Cup and played superiorly to anything seen over the past two years. That discovered comfortability on the court could be a talking point.
Ntilikina’s thought process entering his third season with the Knicks is another potential talking point, as head coach David Fizdale benched him twice, creating the initial doubt on the 21-year-old’s future.
Media Day may feature memorable or interesting quotes from not just these players, but anyone on the roster. It will be a day to start the path to the season, and it should become an exciting day for the fans.
