The Golden State Warriors could have a revamped look for the 2018-19 season. They potentially stand to lose both Kevin Durant and Klay Thompson to free agency, as both can seek max contract elsewhere for fresh starts, despite vying for a third consecutive NBA title.

Durant seems likelier to leave, given all the ties to the New York Knicks over the past eight months.

Either way, the Warriors could lose two of their top three scorers and encounter an unusual roster configuration that lowers them down the NBA totem pole. Finding a player at 28th overall to replace even one of them is unlikely, but there are options to help this historically great shooting team.

One option to play off just Stephen Curry or both him and Thompson is Tyler Herro, who can spot up to hit mid-range shots or three-pointers consistently. He was not elite in this skill, but the slash line is promising enough for Golden State to take a chance.

A starting role might never follow Herro with the Warriors, but he can play a role off the stars, much like previous draft picks, Kevon Looney and Jordan Bell. Plus, this team’s “need” is depth off the bench, and whoever this pick is will fulfill part of that.

The New York Knicks, as noted, need outside shooters, and it’s a position they could fill in the draft, though Herro might not be around unless they trade into the end of the first round.
