New York Knicks: Who stepped up against the Memphis Grizzlies on Dec. 6?
Jarrett Jack
Much has been said about what Jarrett Jack can’t do, but not enough attention has gone to what he can do. Against the Memphis Grizzlies, Jack continued to excel as the pace-setting facilitator whom the New York Knicks have needed for the better part of four years.
Highlighted by a brilliant third quarter sequence during which Jack chased down a rebound, weaved through traffic, and set up an open shooter, he did everything and more against Memphis.
Jack stepped up with his second double-double of the season, tallying 10 points and 10 assists in just 27 minutes of action. He added six rebounds in his most well-rounded performance to date, also shooting 3-of-5 from the field and 4-of-6 from the free throw line.
Due in large part to the fact that he created 35 points of offense between his scoring and facilitating, Jack accumulated a +/- of +19 in the 11-point victory.
It was a thrilling performance by Jack, who never took his foot off of the gas pedal. He created 25 points via his facilitating alone, and stepped up with a number of crucial buckets and defensive plays—yes, defensive plays.
Jack has long been known as one of the more clutch point guards in the NBA, and at 34 years of age, that gene clearly still resides in his DNA.
