5. Dominate The Offensive Boards

The Toronto Raptors have an frontcourt that can best be described as polarizing. When they’re on their game, however, power forward Serge Ibaka and center Jonas Valanciunas can impact a game in momentum-altering capacities.

If the New York Knicks are going to defeat the Raptors, one area in which they must out-duel Toronto’s interior is on the offensive glass.

New York currently leads the NBA in second chance points per game at 17.1—1.4 more than any other team. Toronto ranks No. 25 in second chance points allowed per game, which makes this the perfect opportunity to exploit an advantage.

If the Knicks can dominate the boards in the manner they’re capable of, they should be able to control the overall pace of the game.

Although the Raptors may often struggle in this category, it’s worth noting that recent progress has been made. It outworked the New Orleans Pelicans on the glass in two separate games, including the plus-6 advantage in offensive rebounds during a recent 122-118 victory.

New York should outproduce the Raptors on the offensive boards, but it’s far from guaranteed with the way Toronto has been playing as of late.
