Honorable Mention: Jarrett Jack

The decision to start Jarrett Jack has directly coincided with the New York Knicks discovering stability on offense. Received negatively by fans when the move was announced, Jack’s promotion to the starting lineup has since become the most influential decision of the early season.

The New York Knicks will eventually name Frank Ntilikina the full-time starter, but Jack is positively influencing the future of the Knicks with his leadership and court vision.

New York was 0-3 in three games without Jack as the starter, but has gone 3-0 since he entered the starting lineup. His impact is further displayed by the fact that New York has net ratings of +7.3 with Jack on the floor and a team-worst -7.0 without him.

That difference of 14.3 points per 100 possessions is a clear display of Jack’s uncanny ability to enter a game and right the ship.

When the ball starts to stick and egos take over, Jack has been the veteran leader whose voice is in the younger players’ ears. When the opposition is pouring in points, Jack’s penchant for finding the open man and hitting shots in big moments has helped stifle the opposition’s attempts at a run.

As the Knicks attempt to piece together a successful 2017-18 season, Jack’s veteran leadership will be vital to the realization of Jeff Hornacek’s vision.
