Pro: Creating A Culture

The New York Knicks have made it abundantly clear that they’re prioritizing the creation of a culture over early wins and losses. Head coach Jeff Hornacek and general manager Scott Perry have made that very statement, and early developments have reflected their commitment.

Although trading for Eric Bledsoe would likely yield more short-term victories, it would also be of massive aid in the development of the culture that Hornacek is attempting to build.

For those unfamiliar, Bledsoe played for Hornacek during the 2013-14, 2014-15, and 2015-16 seasons. He started all but three of the games that he played while with Hornacek, and was a foundational contributor on both ends of the floor.

Considering Phoenix won 48 games in 2013-14, and was on pace to secure the No. 8 seed before it blew up the roster at the 2015 trade deadline, it’s safe to say that Bledsoe and Hornacek had a winning rapport.

As the Knicks attempt to create a culture of their own, having a player who knows Hornacek’s approach to the game would be invaluable. Bledsoe could be a leader in the locker room due to his extensive NBA experience and his understanding of Hornacek’s vision.

As will be touched upon in a later slide, the fact that he’s won at a respectable level in dual point guard sets only helps his potential fit with Frank Ntilikina and the Knicks.
