1. Post Play

Few players in the 71-year history of the NBA have been more polished in the post than Pau Gasol. Whether you look back at his Memphis Grizzlies, Los Angeles Lakers, Chicago Bulls, and San Antonio Spurs, he led clinics on how to execute in the high and low posts.

Kristaps Porzingis needs to bulk up in order to become a more effective post player, but Gasol can help him develop all of the necessary tools.

Gasol has carried a relatively big body his whole career, but even he needed to add weight to his frame. He did so in a responsible way, starting from his powerful lower body and going up from there in a wise and methodical manner.

Porzingis has begun to make the same progress from a physical perspective, but Gasol can help him better understand the exact benefits of such a process.

Beyond the need to gain weight in a responsible manner, Gasol has post moves on top of post moves. Whether that’s a move that goes directly into a shot or simply knowledge of how to create enough space to get a clean look at the basket, the Spanish legend is close to flawless down low.

Coupled with his mastery of the high post as a facilitator, Gasol would be a wonderful mentor for Porzingis.
